The State of Origin is an Australian Football league which has been started since 1980 and has been hosting the game every year. This is the 37th year when the games will be held in the country. So it means that we have statistics since then and a lot of players have been churned to play the game. The first ever match played and won in the State of Origin was by Queensland with 20 goals and New South Wales with 10 goals. The match was a one-off match including the one in the year 1981. The reason was to give it a trial and experiment the game.

Though the game is between the two states of Australia i.e. the New South Wales and the Queensland; it has the entire nation glued to it. The last winner of the series held in 2016 was New South Wales with 18 goals and winning the game with four goals higher. The most number of matches won was 60 by Queensland and the series as well with 19 as the count on their kitty.

The largest crowd was seen in the year 2015 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground with 91513 crowds; while the smallest crowd was at 12439 in Veteran’s Stadium, LA, the USA in the year 1987. The most number of goals scored in a match was ten by Ryan Girdler in the year 2000 in Game 3. The oldest player of the series has been Allan Langer at 36 years and 60 days; while the youngest player was Ben Ikin at 18 years and 83 days.The least number of goals scored ever in the series was in the year 1995 at Game 1 where Queensland defeated New South Wales with two goals. The total number of goals scored in the year 2000 was 72 which is the highest ever with Queensland at 56 and New South Wales at 16.
